NBS Student Success in the University Business Challenge

NBS students are powering into the semi-finals of this year’s University Business Challenge organised by IBM. One of the groups scored the highest score of all 312 participating teams including the top Russell Group universities including Cambridge and Oxford.

This year the University has established itself in the top 20 of all UK league tables and the world top 100 of the Leiden ranking which places a higher weighting on university merit as opposed to historical reputation. Now our NBS students are stepping up to the plate by having two out of our three teams taking a well-deserved semi-final slot.

The first group will be competing in Newcastle on the 13th March 2014 and the host organisation will be the well-known global company Proctor and Gamble manufacturers of familiar household and beauty brands. The second group will be travelling to London on the 14th March 2014 to compete in their semi-final which is hosted by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

Achieving this feat has been a fantastic success for our business students and they can feel proud of their achievements and add this accolade to their respective CVs. Nevertheless, the upcoming semi-finals will be a tough competition but also a superb opportunity to network with top students from other universities and senior staff from Blue Chip multi-national organisations.

In recognition of their achievements our Head of School, Professor Paul Dobson has kindly funded their travel and accommodation so that they are well prepared for the battle ahead. Participating in such competitions develops vital employability skills for securing that coveted Graduate Job.

I am sure that like me you will have your fingers crossed on those dates and wishing our students the very best of luck. With a fair wind and lady luck smiling who knows what could happen.

Knock it out of the park guys!!
