Interested in employment after graduation?

All final year Norwich Business School undergraduate students, eligible to work in the UK, are invited to join the Graduate Job Programme (GJP).

At the launch event on 2 March, interested students were introduced to the scheme and the reasons to apply.

Recruiting organisations this year are Brewin Dolphin, Nielsen Brandbank, Marsh, Alan Boswell, East Coast College, James Paget, Keeler and Nelsonspirit, Natures Menu, Rostrons and Woodfordes.

Salaries are all above £20,000 per annum and contracts are from 9 months to permanent, though temporary contracts are likely to lead to more permanent roles. There is one exception, Rostrons, with a starting salary of £16,000, but rising to £27,000 once ACCA qualified.

Jenny Bach, Marketing Executive, introduced students to the roles which are open to any NBS final year undergraduate to apply – whether or not they attended the launch. With 12 fantastic jobs on offer, we have more graduate employers than ever before! This gives candidates greater opportunity, choice and chance of success.

Charlotte Whiting of Nielsen Brandbank presented on the work of the global organisation and her experiences, having graduated in 2019 and secured her position as Commercial Management Trainee, based in Norwich.

Toby Lewis, who also graduated last year, then explained his role as Graduate Management Trainee for Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The alumni presentations gave students a rare insight into the organisations and where they, as graduates, could be a year from now. Norwich Business School would like to give our thanks to Toby and Charlotte for their kindness in attending and presenting at the GJP launch.

The student application deadline is 16 March 2020 and Careers Central are on hand to provide advice and input to the production of CVs and applications.

After applications have closed, a maximum of 20 candidates are shortlisted for the assessment afternoon, which takes place on 25 March. Not only do students benefit from the experience of having completed an assessment centre, they will also be given valuable feedback on their performance. As well as having the chance to apply for exclusive regional graduate jobs, it is also a chance to gain valuable experience of a recruitment assessment day – with interviews, psychometric tests and group work – right here on campus. Just taking part will dramatically improve your graduate employability skills. Those not shortlisted will also be offered feedback and development through Careers Central.

Following the assessment centre, the selected candidates then face a final interview with the recruiting organisation in April / May. If they pass that final interview then their start date will be determined mutually and will be between July and September.

For more information on the Graduate Job Programme, please email gjp@uea.ac.uk. After applying students will be invited to state a preference on which role they would like to be put forward for and may be considered for more than one position. They must, however, be eligible to work in the UK and apply on or before 16 March 2020.

(Candidates are reminded to invest time and consideration in how they present themselves in person and on their CVs and applications.)
